Amazon.com Review This boxed set includes copies of the four books corresponding to the "core four" mandatory MCSE exams NT Server 4, NT Server 4 in the Enterprise, NT Workstation 4, and Networking Essentials, plus a CD-ROM that contains two practice versions of each test. NT Server 4 includes material on installation, file systems, RAID (redundant array of independent disks), hardware configuration, NetWare, printing, RAS (remote access server), and other topics that are certain to be on the test. MCSE Exam Cram: NT Server 4 in the Enterprise provides an excellent last-minute review of sharing, domain structures, clustering, data redundancy, DNS (Domain Name System), NetWare, RAS, and network printing. In NT Workstation 4, you'll find review material on network configuration, network security (including NetWare), RAS, and troubleshooting. Networking Essentials concisely explains topics such as network protocols and topologies, security, and the like; it then quizzes you using the exam's format. The series is known for its excellent practice questions and quizzing the reader on the appropriate information. You should understand that you won't learn any in-depth information on any of the Exam Cram topics. These bare-bones volumes are purely designed to quickly refresh your memory before the MCSE exam.
Product Description Here are the four books readers will need before they take the certification exams to become a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. The book/CD-ROM set includes sections on proven test-taking strategies, warnings on trick questions, time-saving study tips, multiple-part question strategies, and shortcuts.

A MUST HAVE FOR MCSE July 27, 1999 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
These books are great!! They do a great job of reviewing the subjects (most likely to be on the test) and they train you to take the test right the first time. If you have ever failed any of the tests before, you will notice that most of the mistakes you have made would have been mentioned in these books (some as warnings). The key is that they teach you how to attack the test not only with knowledge but with a keen eye for trick questions. Definitely worth your money (these books are cheaper than failing one test)!!!
Exam Cram Core and Proxy / TCP-IP November 29, 1999 Randy Rodrock (Salt Lake City, Utah USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you cannot pass the test with these books as your guide/resource, then you are one of the 70% that Microsoft does *NOT* want as an MCSE! These books are direct and to the point for *ANYONE* with limited knowledge of networking Microsoft products. I passed 6 tests within 6 weeks, thats 1 test per week with these books as my guide to further my education of MS products. Paper MCSE's need not apply!
VERY STRONG LITTLE BOOKS !! February 10, 1999 darryl@sysnet.net (Vienna, VA) These books were all I needed to pass the exams (along with Transcender). Books are well written and clear. I had no real-world experience with NT so I was a bit nervious about tackling this subject. Exam Cram Core-Four helped me pass all four exams!!! I am now an MCSE thanks to Exam Cram. What else can you ask of a book?
Good for test, bad for real-life February 14, 1999 I found that this book made it extremely easy to pass the test, but it was hard to retain and to use the info when actually performing tasks.
You need this book before the test May 31, 1999 You should not consider buying only this book for the exam, but it is a must-have supplement. Read it before you start on the main exam book, then read it again. You will know the subject backwards, and pass the exam. I'm due in 10 days on the exam, and feel quite confident that I will pass the test.
